Google Aims to Revive Its Smart Glasses Project
The live demo revealed a broad range of features, bringing the product closer to a consumer-ready device. At first glance, the glasses resemble ordinary eyewear, but they incorporate a miniature camera, microphone, speaker, and a high-resolution color display embedded directly in the lens.
Designed to be lightweight and compatible with prescription lenses, the Android XR glasses connect to a smartphone to harness its processing power and access a suite of Google applications.

During the presentation, Izadi used the glasses to display his speaking notes and demonstrated a practical everyday feature by capturing a photo. The standout capability is integration with Gemini AI. A Google executive showcased the glasses composing poetry, recalling a book glanced at moments earlier, and locating a hotel room key — all via simple voice commands and real-time visual processing.
The glasses also provide rapid translation between languages such as English, Persian, and Hindi. Additional features include visual explanations of charts, text-based object recognition — like identifying a music album and playing a track — and navigation with a 3D map overlay projected directly into the user’s field of view.

Final specifications remain unconfirmed, but the device is expected to feature a high-resolution camera, a lightweight frame, and likely the Snapdragon XR2 Plus Gen 2 chipset.
